teamLab: Yoro Valley
Yoro Valley is transformed into an art space that changes with the presence of people living in the now, reconnecting the existence and continuity of a long time.
Yoro Valley was sculpted over a long period of time as the Yoro River continuously carved the earth. The geomagnetic reversal stratum here preserve the world’s clearest traces of the reversal of Earth's magnetic poles during the Chibanian age. Upstream, the Kurotaki Unconformity on the rock face of this valley is selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Geological Sites. A forest with an aged patina, the river that has incessantly carved deep into the earth, and the rock face of the valley’s strata reflects the long time enclosed within it.
teamLab’s art project, Digitized Nature, explores how nature itself becomes art.
Existences that possess a long period of time are turned into a group of artworks as they are, which transform due to the presence of people living in the now. The project explores turning the existence of a long time, the continuity between that time and the now, and the fact that our own existence is part of a long, long continuity of life, into an artwork and a place.

เกี่ยวกับ teamLab
teamLab (f. 2001) is an international art collective. Their collaborative practice seeks to navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world. Through art, the interdisciplinary group of specialists, including artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects, aims to explore the relationship between the self and the world, and new forms of perception.
In order to understand the world around them, people separate it into independent entities with perceived boundaries between them. teamLab seeks to transcend these boundaries in our perceptions of the world, of the relationship between the self and the world, and of the continuity of time. Everything exists in a long, fragile yet miraculous, borderless continuity.
teamLab’s works are in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide; National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; Amos Rex, Helsinki; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Asian Art Museum, San Francisco; Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, Istanbul; and Asia Society Museum, New York, among others.
