teamLab: Digitized Fukuoka Castle Ruins
Built over a period of seven years from 1601, Fukuoka Castle is the largest castle in Kyushu. Often referred to as the Stone Castle, its center the Honmaru, Ninomaru and Sannomaru palaces were made up entirely of stone walls. The beautiful four layers of stone walls make this vast site a magnificent national historic treasure. 

This exhibition is a part of teamLab’s Digitized City art project. The concept behind the project is that non-material digital technology can turn a city into art without physically altering it.

In teamLab: Digitized Fukuoka Castle Ruins, the heart of the Fukuoka Castle ruins, with its beautiful stone walls that span 20,000 square meters, will be transformed into a art space of interactive light that changes according to the presence of people.

Animals of Flowers, Symbiotic Lives in the Stone Wall - Fukuoka Castle Tower Ruins

Flowers grow from the bodies of animals that inhabit the 60m long, 10m high stone walls of Fukuoka Castle ruins.The flowers bud, bloom, scatter and fade away in a continuous cycle.When people move close to the animals the flowers scatter. Once all of the flowers have scattered the animals disappear.

Autonomous Resonating Life and Resonating Trees

The resisting and resonating ovoids placed amongst the trees shine. The light of the ovoids and the light of the trees are autonomous: they shine brightly and then fade slowly, as though they are breathing.

When an ovoid is pushed, the color of the light it emits changes and a tone unique to that color echoes out. The light that originated from that ovoid resonates out to other ovoids and trees nearby. The tone resonates out continuously in the same way as the light, spreading throughout the ovoids and trees.

If a wave of light comes from the other side, it signifies the presence of people there. People gain a heightened sense of awareness of the existence of other people in the same space.

صدى حياة الغابة المستقلة / Forest of Autonomous Resonating Life

إن كل من الحزم الممتلئة بكثافة وأشكال الضوء البيضاوية تتمتع بإستقلالية . عندما يتم دفع الشكل البيضاوي من قبل الأشخاص الذين يتحركون من خلال الرياح ، فإنه يرتفع مرة أخرى مع تغير لون الضوء المنتشر منه كما ينبعث منه نغمة خاصة بهذا اللون. تستجيب الأشكال البيضاوية المحيطة واحدة تلو الأخرى، وتتغير بإستمرار لتنتج اللون ذاته كما تنبعث منها نفس النغمة.
عندما لا تهب الرياح ولا يقوم الأشخاص القريبون من الأشكال البيضاوية بالتفاعل ، تبدأ الأضواء الخاصة بهم في الوميض ببطء.

Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as well in the Stone Wall - Fukuoka Castle Tower Ruins

Built in 1607, Fukuoka Castle is also known as the Stone Castle. This installation artwork makes use of the stone walls of the great castle tower ruins. 
Yatagarasu (three-legged crows from Japanese mythology) are rendered in light, as they fly around the space, they leave trails of light in their paths and create spatial calligraphy. The crows chase one another and in turn become chased themselves. When the chased crows crash into one another, they scatter, turning into flowers. 
The light that draws the crows is black, meaning there is no light, thus making it indistinguishable from the shadows of the stone walls that have been weathered over the past several hundred years. The crows merge with the shadows of the stone wall as they fly.

Reversible Rotation in the Stone Wall - Fukuoka Castle Ruins

Built in 1607, Fukuoka Castle is also known as the Stone Castle. This installation artwork makes use of the stone walls of the castle.

The light that draws the calligraphy is black, meaning there is no light, thus making it indistinguishable from the shadows of the stone walls that have been weathered over the past several hundred years. The writing merges with the shadows of the stone wall, and the Spatial Calligraphy is continuously written on the stone wall.

The Spatial Calligraphy rotates in the artwork space, every aspect rotating in the same direction. But because of the special characteristics of Ultrasubjective Space, it can appear to be rotating clockwise or counterclockwise.

Spatial Calligraphy is calligraphy drawn in space, a form of calligraphy that teamLab has been exploring since it was founded. The artwork reconstructs calligraphy in three dimensional space to express the depth, speed and power of the brush stroke, and that calligraphy is then flattened using the logical structure of space that teamLab calls Ultrasubjective Space. The calligraphy shifts between two and three dimensions.

Breathing Resonating Stone Wall - Fukuoka Castle Ruins

Built in 1607, Fukuoka Castle is also known as the Stone Castle. Its stone walls glow across the whole 630 meters.
The light of the walls is autonomous, it shines brightly and then fades, as if breathing slowly.

The light of the walls joins together with the Resonating Tree and Autonomous Resonating Life in the Honmaru ruins area, glowing brightly and producing a colour tone that resonates out.

Draw Kuro Kanbei and the historical figures and see them walk around and dance. 
On paper, draw Kuroda Kanbei and the historical figures related to him (Kuroda Kanbei, Teruhime, Kuroda Nagamasa, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi(Hashiba) Hideyoshi, Takenaka Hanbei, Ishida Mitsunari, and Tachibana Ginchiyo). Then, watch the drawings come to life and walk around the park in front of you.
Touch the historical figures, and they will begin to speak.

تيم لاب

"تيم لاب" هو عبارة عن مجموعة فنيّة عالمية (تأسست عام 2001)، يتم التعاون فيها بهدف التعمّق في نقاط الالتقاء بين الفن والعلوم والتكنولوجيا والعالم الطبيعي. فعبر الأعمال الفنيّة، تهدف مجموعة من الخبراء ذوي الاختصاصات المختلفة، بمن فيهم فنانين ومبرمجين ومهندسين، وأخصائي رسوم متحركة، وعلماء رياضيات ومهندسين معماريين، إلى استكشاف العلاقة بين الذات والعالم وأشكال جديدة من الإدراك.

وفي محاولة إلى فهم العالم حولهم، يسعى الناس إلى فصله إلى وحدات مستقلة يتصوّرون حدودًا في ما بينها. ولكن "تيم لاب" يسعى إلى تجاوز هذه الحدود التي تحدّ رؤيتنا ونظرتنا إلى العالم وإلى العلاقة بين الذات والعالم واستمرارية الزمن. فكل شيء قائم في استمرارية بلا حدود، في استمرارية مستدامة وهشّة وخارقة في آن واحد.
