Continuous Life and Death at the Now of Deep Time
teamLab, 2026, from the series Ever Blossoming Life Waterfall - Deep in the Mountains of Shikoku, 2016-, Installation, Sound: Hideaki Takahashi
The Yoro valley consists of vast geological strata formations.
Over millions of years, an overwhelming amount of time, the flow of water has carved out layers, revealing the memory of the history of the earth. The process, Deep-time Sculpted Existence, has created a colossal existence. The immense amount of accumulated time is enclosed within its form and texture.
Within this overwhelming existence, flowers repeat the cycle of life and death in perpetuity, and the time of life flows.
When you become a part of this existence imbued with immense time, you realize that the vast amount of accumulated time is continuous with the now, this moment in time.
And as you walk through the continuity of these two times, you physically experience the fact that your own existence is part of a long boundless continuity of time.
