Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as well: Dissolving Light

teamLab, 2024, from the series Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as Well, 2013-, Installation, 4min 20sec, Sound: Hideaki Takahashi

This work begins when Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as well: Flying Beyond Borders enters the space of Dissolving Light. When it ends, the crows leave the space.

Artworks created as one with the space dissolve and blend into this world. The artwork and this world are continuous, and the boundary between the artwork and the body becomes ambiguous.

This work is a continuation of Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as Well, Division in Perspective (2014), in which the viewer's viewpoint is not fixed, but is free to look not only left and right but also in the depth direction, walking freely in all directions, and exploring physical perception in which the viewer's entire body is immersed in the world of the artwork.

Flocks of mythical crows (Yatagarasu) rendered in light fly around the space leaving trails in their wake and forming Spatial Calligraphy. The chasing crows are eventually chased themselves, and form flowers when they crash into each other, scattering their petals.
