Flowers in the Sandfall - Time

teamLab, 2015, Interactive Digital Installation, Endless

The flow of sand proceeds in a fixed rhythm, incessant and unchanging, while the flowers ceaselessly bloom, wilt, and bloom again.

When a person stands before this flow of falling sand, the sand’s path is changed by the person's presence; the flow of the sand parts, and a space opens.
The flowers beyond the sand change every month.
Since ancient times, people have gazed at falling sand to gain a sense of the passing of short moments in time — and they watched the changing flowers to feel the passing of long-term changes in time.

No moment of this artwork will ever be repeated again.
