Through the artwork, Matter is Void, teamLab explores the notion of ownership.

This is an NFT artwork. There is only one NFT of this work, but it does not make it exclusive. Anyone and any number of people can download and own the artwork itself. In other words, whether or not someone owns the NFT of the work, the downloaded artworks cannot be distinguished from each other and they are all authentic.
The artwork displays the words chosen by teamLab, “Matter is Void”. Only the NFT owner can modify these words, and those same words will be reflected in all of the artworks downloaded by people around the world.
Depending on the words chosen by the owner of the NFT, the value of the artwork will change. If the words rewritten by the owner of the NFT possess value, more people may choose to own the artwork; and if the words do not possess value, people may no longer choose to display the work. There may be great value in rewriting the words of an artwork that many people look at, and conversely little value in rewriting the words of an artwork that is not displayed anywhere. Depending on the words chosen by the owner of the NFT, the value of the NFT will also likely change.
Once the original words are modified, even if the owner of the NFT decides to change them back to “Matter is Void”, the words will appear differently from the original; the initial “Matter is Void”, once modified, will not be able to be seen in its original state ever again.

The letters of the words in this artwork continuously revolve and rotate. Depending on the angle we may be able to recognize the letters as they continue to rotate, and there will be moments when we can recognize the meaning of the letters as a whole, but once again, they will become indiscernible and the words lose meaning. The way in which the words revolve is visually perceived as moving simultaneously clockwise and counterclockwise, and depending on which movement is consciously followed, the words can appear to be moving in either direction.
A WAY WITH LIGHT
The digital art exhibition, 'A Way with Light,' brings together over twenty artworks by celebrated artists, both local and international, inviting viewers to explore the resonances and dissonances that arise in the dynamic union of art and technological innovation. In an era marked by constant change, this exhibition celebrates the creative sparks that emerge when traditional and digital realms collide. Across an array of visual media—ranging from screens and projectors to lightboxes and prints—the showcase offers a multifaceted experience of art and creativity and embrace the rich dialogue that unfolds between these two worlds.

Produced in partnership between AKTHR, ATHR Gallery's dedicated initiative for experimental contemporary art, and the RFC Art Collection, this exhibition serves as an introduction into the nascent world of digital art on the blockchain. The RFC Art collection, boasting over 2,000 pieces from groundbreaking artists at the intersection of art and technology, provides a unique selection from its archive to augment the exhibition.

The featured artists harness technology as their tool to infuse their artistic expressions, from coding and programming to advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence, to create artworks that prompt reflection on the role of innovation in shaping societies and cultures. Three Saudi artists—Ayman Yossri Daydban, Daniah Al-Saleh, and Ahaad Alamoudi—integrate digital modalities into their existing art practices, offering a local perspective on this global phenomenon. On the other hand, the featured digitally native artists, Andres Reisinger, teamLab, Jonas Lund, Random International, Refik Anadol, and Quayola have embarked on their artistic careers from the digital realm, molding new and dynamic roles for artists, viewers, and collectors.

A Way with Light’ invites you to step into a world where the future of art is illuminated by the radiant possibilities of today's technology. The exhibition challenges traditional modes of display and engagement, inviting participants to explore beyond the tangible. AKTHR in partnership with RFC Art brings together a selection of works by leading artists who are using technology as a tool to push the boundaries of their practice, bringing the physical and digital realms and fostering new possibilities of artistic expression.

teamLab
teamLab (f. 2001) is an international art collective. Their collaborative practice seeks to navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world. Through art, the interdisciplinary group of specialists, including artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects, aims to explore the relationship between the self and the world, and new forms of perception. In order to understand the world around them, people separate it into independent entities with perceived boundaries between them. teamLab seeks to transcend these boundaries in our perceptions of the world, of the relationship between the self and the world, and of the continuity of time. Everything exists in a long, fragile yet miraculous, borderless continuity. teamLab exhibitions have been held in cities worldwide, including New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Silicon Valley, Beijing, and Melbourne among others. teamLab museums and large-scale permanent exhibitions include teamLab Borderless and teamLab Planets in Tokyo, teamLab Borderless Shanghai, and teamLab SuperNature Macao, with more to open in cities including Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Hamburg, Jeddah, and Utrecht. teamLab’s works are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide; Asian Art Museum, San Francisco; Asia Society Museum, New York; Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, Istanbul; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; and Amos Rex, Helsinki. teamlab.art Biographical Documents teamLab is represented by Pace Gallery, Martin Browne Contemporary and Ikkan Art.
