Flowers and Fish - Enoshima Aquarium Big Sagami Bay Tank

Projected flowers bloom as far as the eye can see on Enoshima Aquarium’s Big Sagami Bay Tank, turning the entire space into an art installation. More subdued than the tank’s usual lighting, the projected images provide a soft light that illuminates the space. When the fish in the tank cross the projection of flowers, the flowers scatter into a burst of petals. The images in this installation are not recorded in advance and replayed; they respond to the movement of the fish, forever changing their appearance. The art that is created in one moment will disappear in the next, never to be seen again.

Resonating Spheres and Night Fish

The night aquarium space is filled with spheres of light.

When the spheres are touched by a visitor or when they bump into an object, the color of the light they emit changes, and they emit a musical tone unique to their new color. They can also resonate with the other spheres to emit the same colors and sounds, forming chain reactions with the spheres around them.

Small Resonating Sea

When visitors approach the glass of a tank, the color of the tank's lighting changes, and the tank emits a musical tone unique to the color of the light. The tanks also resonate with other tanks nearby, changing to display the same colors and produce the same tones, creating a chain reaction.

Sketch Aquarium

All the various fish drawn by everyone swim around in this aquarium.

Color in a fish on the paper provided, and see the picture you have drawn come to life, swimming out into the massive aquarium in front of you together with the fish drawn by other people. If you touch the swimming fish, they will swim away. You can also feed the fish by touching the food bags.

teamLabCamera

teamLabCamera is digital signage that automatically takes photographs and connects with Facebook. Stand in front of the signage and press the start button, shooting will start automatically and photographs with various effects applied to them are uploaded to Facebook. 
 
 A camera is no longer just another piece of equipment. teamLabCamera is a module designed for a new era in photography that allows free and diverse use across a wide range of platforms, including; digital signage, iPhone, smartphone, web camera, kinect, and 360degree photography. It allows a high degree of freedom and interaction for networked digital media and increases the opportunities for photographic shooting. teamLabCamera modules cooperate with social medias such as Facebook and Twitter. It utilizes facial recognition, cutout backgrounds, manga and comic effects, combination of images, change of clothing, and 360degree photography.

Interactive Ocean Bar

A terrace bar with interactive lights and a wide view of the sea stretching out in front of you.
When you place your drink on a high table, the colors and color tone of the drink expand out across the 50m length terrace. If a second drink is placed right next to the first, the second drink's color and light is added to the first, causing the combination of colors from both drinks to spread throughout the whole terrace.
Enjoy with only one drink, or by combining two drinks, different drinks at different timings create an endless number of new color spaces possibilities.
The terrace space created by two drinks at any one moment is a completely unique terrace space that can only be experienced at that particular point in time.
*It is not necessary to purchase a drink to view the light installation.

「ナイトワンダーアクアリウム2015」新江ノ島水族館で開催！チームラボが贈る大水槽の幻想的な世界

新江ノ島水族館が「えのすい×チームラボナイトワンダーアクアリウム2015」を、2015年7月18日(土)から12月25日(金)まで開催する。昨年、33万人以上が来場した夜間イベントに続き、新江ノ島水族館が「進化するえのすい」をテーマに掲げ、世界で最も注目を浴びるアート集団、「チームラボ」とともに幻想的な空間を創り、新しい夜の水族館の楽しみ方を演出する。■展示紹介今回は一足早くナイトアクアリウムの見どころを紹介する。入口から、海中の遊園地に入ったかのような世界観に驚く。大きな光の球体がクラゲのように浮遊している空間は「呼応する球体と夜の魚たち」というアトラクション。光るボールに人がぶつかるたびに色が変わり、幻想的な音が鳴る。また、そのボールのまわりにも派生し、まるで生き物のように見た目を変え、見るものを飽きさせない。光の球体の世界を抜けると、水槽がいくつも連続して展示される小さな海の世界が。人が近づくことで水槽の光の色が変化する。また、それに合わせて他の水槽の色も変わり、イルミネーションのように音楽と光の呼応が広がっていくのが魅力的だ。そしてメインの水槽「相模湾大水槽」へ。「花と魚 – 相模湾大水槽」と題された今シーズンは、水槽全体に花を咲かせるプロジェクションが。この映像の大きな特徴は、もともと作成されたものではなく、水槽の魚たちの動きに合わせてリアルタイムで永遠に変容し続けること。魚やエイが水槽の近くを横切ると、その魚に花柄を投影、そして水槽の周りの花々は、魚が近づくと散っていく。その瞬間にしか見ることができない一瞬のアートが見るものを魅了する仕掛けだ。そして大人から子供までが楽しめる企画が「お絵描き水族館」。この水族館では、私たちが書いた魚が実際に投影された水槽の中を泳ぐという驚きの体験が待っている。魚の形が書かれた紙に思い思いの色や模様を塗って、機械に読み込ませると、実際に泳いでいるかのように動きだす。また、描かれた魚たちは、人の手が近づくと避けて行ったり、餌が落とされると群がったりと、リアルな水槽の魚たちのような行動をとるのも面白い。海水浴の後やデートの最後にも寄りやすい立地、時間帯で開催されるので、普段は見ることができない、最新技術と魅惑の魚たちのコラボレーションで生まれる夜の水族館を楽しんでほしい。そして2015年9月19日(土)より、新たな作品「空書ライン、魚、そして、しんかい2000」が展示開始。日本初の本格的な有人潜水調査船「しんかい2000」がある空間を、光の空書で取り囲んだアート空間に変身させる。空書とは、チームラボがここ10年ほど取り組んでいる空間に書く書。書の墨跡が持つ深さや速さ、力の強さのようなものを新たな解釈で空間に立体的に再構築している。【情報詳細】えのすい×チームラボナイトワンダーアクアリウム2015開催期間：2015年7月18日(土)～12月25日(金)※開催期間中休催日あり開催場所：新江ノ島水族館住所：神奈川県藤沢市片瀬海岸2-19-1開催時間：17:00～20:00入場料：大人 2,100円高校生 1,500円小・中学生1,000円幼児(3歳以上) 600円主催：新江ノ島水族館チームラボ日本テレビ放送網※本イベントは夜間特別イベント※水族館の入場料のみで回覧可。

teamlab projects colorful flowers on fish at enoshima aquarium in japan

from now until dec 25, 2015, visitors to the enoshima aquarium in kanagawa, japan are immersed in a field of digital nature projected onto the big sagami bay tank filled with aquatic life. the installation ‘flowers and fish’ by japanese studio teamlab depicts botanical forms, leaves, and petals slowly floating across the surface of the water tank, blooming and collapsing in response to the passing fish inside.softly-lit projected blooms overlay the marine life swimming through, momentarily turning them into colorful and floral hybrid beings. when the fish in the tank cross the flowers’ path, they scatter into a burst of glittering petals that gradually fades from view. as the images used for the installation are not pre-programed, but rather determined by the movement inside the tank, the compositions created are completely unique throughout the duration of the installation. a series of additional installations placed throughout the aquarium include ‘resonating spheres and night fish’, a series of orbs which change color in response to human touch; ‘sketch aquarium’, which allows physical drawings to be transferred to a digital wall; and ‘small resonating sea’, which changes the color of a fish tank when people approach.-nina azzarello

teamLab (f. 2001) is an international art collective. Their collaborative practice seeks to navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world. Through art, the interdisciplinary group of specialists, including artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects, aims to explore the relationship between the self and the world, and new forms of perception.
