Persistence of Life in the Sandfall

teamLab, 2025, from the series Persistence of Life in the Sandfall, 2024-, Interactive Digital Work, 12 channels (6 channels x 2 rows), Endless, Sound: Hideaki Takahashi

The existence of the flowers emerges from the falling sand. Due to the presence of people, the flowers scatter and die.

The short time of the falling sand, the long time of the repeated life and death of the flowers, and the time of people's bodies - all these different times intersect and overlap.

In the space of the flowers drawn in Ultrasubjective Space, unlike a screen flattened by lenses or single-point perspective, every location can be a viewpoint, and thus infinite viewpoints exist. Viewers are not bound to a specific point; by moving their bodies and freely shifting their gaze, they reconstruct the picture and create the space of flowers within themselves.

The screen here is neither a boundary nor a window separating the space where we are from the world of the artwork, but appears as a single space continuous with the space where the viewer's body exists.
